Callaway made the Quantum Max OS for golfers who lose shots to the right and struggle to launch long irons. It is the most forgiving hybrid in the 2026 Quantum family, and it plays like it.

What's new

The Max OS anchors the forgiveness end of the 2026 Quantum hybrid range. Its head is oversized and draw-biased, and Callaway stretched the face to match, chasing launch and forgiveness ahead of anything else.

Callaway offers just two lofts, 18 and 21 degrees, which keeps the choice simple. It went on sale in January 2026 at top-of-market hybrid money.

How it plays

Forgiveness leads the scorecard at 9.2, and every test we drew on came back to launch and that big face. One review gave it full marks. Off a tight lie the ball climbs without being helped, and mishits stay playable.

Distance and accuracy both land at 8.5. The draw bias does real work here: a push or a slice that would drift right gets steered back toward the short grass, which is exactly what its target golfer is paying for. Feel rates a solid 8.4.

Where it lacks

Workability scores 7.9, the lowest of its six marks. With the head set up to turn the ball left, a player trying to hit a fade has to fight the club rather than work with it.

Looks will put some golfers off. At address the oversized shape reads as a rescue, and a better player who likes a compact hybrid will want something smaller. The price also asks a lot, even if the 8.4 value score says the performance mostly earns it.

“If your bad hybrid goes right, this one fixes more of it than anything else in the Quantum range.”

  • Draw bias pulls a right miss back toward the middle of the fairway
  • An oversized face gets the ball up off the deck with little effort

Reasons to think twice

  • The oversized head looks like a rescue club, which most low handicappers will not want behind the ball
  • Shaping a shot from left to right fights the built-in draw bias
