Cobra built the OPTM LS for players who already hit their fairway woods hard and want less spin, not more help. It launches low, spins less than almost anything in its class, and moves the ball left or right on request.
What's new
This is the low-spin model in Cobra's OPTM fairway wood family, a titanium body under a carbon fiber crown with a forged H.O.T. face insert. You can buy it at 15, 16.5 or 18 degrees, and three weight ports in the sole let you shift mass fore or aft.
The FutureFit33 hosel offers 33 settings, more range than most adjustable heads. Cobra has also cut the price since launch, which makes a titanium head easier to justify.
How it plays
Every test behind this review found the same low-launch, low-spin flight. One saw about 157 mph of ball speed and 258 yards of carry from a 110 mph swing at under 2,900 rpm, while another clocked 11.2 degrees of launch and roughly 2,980 rpm. A third ranked it third for total distance despite posting the lowest launch in the field.
Workability earns an 8.8, its best score, and one review called this the most workable OPTM head. Feel rates 8.4, and accuracy holds at 8.0, with one test measuring a 15.4-yard dispersion.
Where it lacks
Forgiveness scores 7.6, the weakest number on its card. A compact head with a low, forward center of gravity gives back less on mishits than the bigger, friendlier designs in this category.
That low launch cuts both ways. Slower swings and players who already hit it low may struggle to get it airborne, and one review found a fade could slide into a slice once the face opened too far.
“With the speed, it flies low, rolls out and shapes on command. Without it, buy something bigger.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Spin came in among the lowest of any fairway wood tested in 2026, so drives off the deck bore through wind
- With 33 hosel settings, you can dial loft and lie further than most adjustable woods allow
- A forged face insert holds ball speed well on strikes low in the face
Reasons to think twice
- Launch runs low, and the small head does little to help a player who already struggles to get it airborne
- Forgiveness sits noticeably below the rest of the class
- Lean on the face too hard and a controlled fade can turn into a slice
