PXG shaved more titanium off the face of its Secret Weapon mini driver, and the speed shows up on the monitor. It carries well past 270 yards in testing. It also wants a cleaner strike than most drivers ask for.
What's new
The 2027 Secret Weapon keeps the 300 cc mini driver format and gets a face more than 4 percent thinner than the previous version, plus a reworked sole structure. PXG carried the technology over from its Lightning family and covered the crown in matte carbon fiber.
Loft starts at 13 degrees and an adjustable hosel moves it from there. The head weighs 215 grams on a 43.25 inch build with a 58.5 degree lie, and it comes in right and left hand. Pricing lands in flagship territory, which is a lot to ask of a club most players will bag as a 3-wood.
How it plays
Distance carries this review. Across a 25-ball launch monitor average it produced 162 mph of ball speed, 15.5 degrees of launch, 271 yards of carry and a 148 foot peak height, numbers that earn its 9.3 distance score.
Four sole ports at the heel, toe, front and back hold two 7.5 gram and two 2.5 gram weights, so you tune the shot without swapping heads. Testers liked how easily it shapes shots (8.5 for workability) and how well toe strikes held their line. Feel is firmer than the Quantum Mini and scores an 8.1.
Where it lacks
Forgiveness, at 7.0, is the weakest of its six scores. The thin face rewards a centered hit, and a player who sprays contact around the face will not get the carry numbers above.
A 300 cc head also takes getting used to: it can look small at address for a full season before it stops bothering you. No robot test had been published by the end of October 2026, so the speed figures rest on human testing.
“Hit it on the screws and it flies like a driver. Miss the middle and you will know.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- A thinner titanium face keeps ball speed up on strikes that drift off center
- Four sole ports and two weight sizes let you shift the flight without a new head
- Toe mishits hold their line, and the 9.3 distance score leads its scorecard
Reasons to think twice
- Forgiveness scores a 7.0, so it pays clean contact far better than loose swings
- A 300 cc head looks small behind the ball and takes a while to trust
- It costs flagship money for a club that fills a 3-wood slot
