Max-forgiveness drivers usually look the part at address. Srixon's ZXi Max does not, yet it posted the best forgiveness score in our 2026 driver test.
What's new
The Max sits at the forgiving end of Srixon's ZXi family, a 460 cc cast titanium head built to launch and spin higher than the standard ZXi. Srixon pairs its i-FLEX face with a Rebound Frame and laser milling across the hitting area.
Adjustment is kept simple: one low rear weight and a 1.5 degree hosel sleeve that moves loft, lie, and face angle. It comes in 9, 10.5, and 12 degrees for right-handers, and the price sits above the budget heads in the class.
How it plays
Forgiveness carries this driver. At 9.4 it topped the 2026 class, and testers kept describing a head that is easy to hit and launch without the usual max-driver look at address.
Launch comes easily. Shots climb high with enough spin to hold the air, so slower swingers get real carry, and the 12 degree option with a lighter Denali Red 5 shaft in A, R, or S flex suits a senior build. Distance scores 8.8 and accuracy 8.6, both strong numbers for a head this stable.
Where it lacks
Shaping shots takes more effort here. Workability scores 7.6, and the high MOI shape resists the curve a better player could pull from the ZXi or ZXi LS.
Feel rates 8.4, and impact registers as firm and solid rather than soft, a trait of the all-titanium build. Value sits at 8 because cheaper drivers in the test cover a lot of the same ground.
“It forgives like a max driver and looks like a Srixon. Easy launch is the bonus.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Its 9.4 forgiveness score was the best of any driver in our 2026 test
- High launch and healthy spin get the ball airborne without any help from the swing
- A lighter Project X Denali Red 5 shaft keeps overall weight down for moderate speeds
Reasons to think twice
- A high MOI shape costs some workability next to the ZXi and ZXi LS
- Impact feels solid rather than soft, which comes with an all-titanium head
- Priced above the budget drivers in the group, so value lands mid-pack
