The Qi4D LS is the low-spin head in TaylorMade's 2026 driver family, and testers found it the fastest of the three. It rewards a quick, accomplished swing with a flat, boring flight and gives little back to a poor one.

What's new

TaylorMade keeps the LS at 460 cc but gives it a compact, low-spin shape and a 60x carbon face with an improved roll radius. A new flush sole carries two weight ports, holding 15 g and 4 g weights, and the high-COR area of the face has grown.

Lofts come in 8, 9 and 10.5 degrees for right- and left-handed players, and a 4 degree sleeve adjusts loft, lie and face angle. Each stock build pairs a Golf Pride Z-Grip with a Mitsubishi REAX shaft in MR, LR or HR, chosen by rotation rate. It reached shops on January 29, 2026, priced like a premium driver.

How it plays

Speed comes first. On a GCQuad the LS posted the fastest ball speed of the three Qi4D heads, just under 150 mph, for 268.5 yards total, while another test found 1.5 mph more clubhead speed than the previous generation and rival low-spin heads, worth 5 to 8 yards of carry.

Spin sits around 2,200 rpm, so the flight stays low and penetrating, and dispersion tested tighter than the Qi35 LS. Center strikes have a trampoline feel, and testers called the sound a noticeable step forward, which squares with a 9.0 feel score. Workability also rates 9.0, so a good player can shape it.

Where it lacks

Mishits drop off faster here than on the Max or core heads. In testing, ball speed fell to 145 mph on off-center strikes, one reviewer described those hits as dead, and forgiveness scores 7.7, its lowest mark.

Low spin cuts both ways. A golfer without the speed to use 2,200 rpm can watch the ball run further than they can keep in play, and a high handicapper has no business touring with it. Value rates 7.9 at premium money, though one tester still judged it decent value.

“If you swing fast and fight spin, nothing TaylorMade sells this year gets the ball moving quicker.”

Reasons to buy

  • Fastest ball speed of the three Qi4D heads, just under 150 mph on a launch monitor
  • Every stock setup includes a Mitsubishi REAX shaft fitted to your rotation rate
  • Feels and sounds a clear step up from the Qi35 LS, with a lively strike on center

Reasons to think twice

  • Off-center strikes lose speed quickly, falling to about 145 mph in testing
  • Asks for an accomplished swing, so high handicappers should look at the Max or core heads
  • Spin near 2,200 rpm can send the ball further than some players can control
