XXIO builds drivers for golfers who want more speed without swinging harder, and the 14 sticks to that plan. It is light, soft and forgiving, though it asks for top-of-market money and gives little back in shot shaping.

What's new

The 14 is XXIO's premium lightweight driver for 2026, released in January. Its 460 cc head weighs just 193 grams, with a face of VR-Titanium, a silicon-added titanium, built to XXIO's UltiFlex design.

That same alloy forms the body under an ActivWing aero crown. XXIO fits its own MP-1400 carbon shaft and keeps the weights fixed internally, and lofts run 9, 10.5, 11.5, 12.5 and 13.5 degrees, all right-handed. Pricing sits at the very top of the driver market.

How it plays

Light weight does most of the work. With less mass to move, a moderate swing keeps more clubhead speed, and the 14 scores 8.6 for distance and 8.7 for forgiveness while reviewers found it easy to launch.

Feel earns its highest number, 8.8. Testers kept coming back to a soft, premium strike. Accuracy comes in a touch lower at 8.3, still a respectable figure.

Where it lacks

Price hurts most. XXIO charges top-of-market money for the 14, and value scores 7, lowest on its card and near the back of its class.

Shot shapers will find less to play with. Workability scores 7.4, trailing the adjustable tour-style heads in the same test, and with fixed internal weights a fitter has none of the moving parts multi-weight drivers offer.

“It feels soft and launches without much effort. The price takes some of the shine off.”

Reasons to buy

  • An ultra-light VR-Titanium build helps a moderate swing hold on to its clubhead speed
  • Feel scores 8.8, its best mark, and two independent tests singled out how soft it is
  • Five lofts from 9 to 13.5 degrees fit a wide spread of swing speeds

Reasons to think twice

  • It costs top-of-market money, and a value score of 7 lands near the back of the class
  • Workability scores 7.4, behind the adjustable tour-style heads it was tested against
  • Weights are fixed inside the head, so a fitter has fewer levers than on multi-weight designs
