Maxfli built the Tour S to spin less than almost anything in its class. It flies far, flies straight and costs a fraction of the big names. You give some of that back once you have to hold a green.

What's new

Maxfli made the 2025 Tour S in three pieces under a soft urethane cover, tuned for low spin from the driver right through the irons. It comes in white only and is sold by the dozen.

Maxfli prices it well below the flagship tour balls, and that gap is a big part of the pitch. Value scores 9.3, higher than any other category.

How it plays

In the robot test it ranked second-lowest for driver spin at 114 mph among three-piece tour-level balls, and lowest of all at 93 mph. Less spin means more roll and less curve, which lines up with a distance score of 8.6 and accuracy at 8.4.

Feel rates 8.2, about what you would expect from a soft urethane cover. A slower swing gets the most out of it: one independent test named it a strong buy at low swing speeds, while at 78 mph it dropped to sixth-lowest for spin.

Where it lacks

Spin is lower on approach shots too. Its 7-iron spin of 4,280 rpm was the lowest in the three-piece tour category, and testers noted the ball has a harder time hitting and holding greens as a result.

Workability sits at 7.0. If you like to curve the ball on purpose, a low-spin design pushes back, and forgiveness at 8.0 is solid without standing out.

“Off the tee it hangs with balls that cost far more. Into a firm green, you notice the missing spin.”

Reasons to buy

  • Spin stays very low off the driver, which helps carry and keeps misses straighter
  • A soft urethane cover gives tour-ball feel around the greens at a price well under the flagships
  • Independent testing picked it as a strong buy for golfers with slower swing speeds

Reasons to think twice

  • Iron spin is low enough that approach shots struggle to stop on the green
  • Workability scores 7.0, its weakest mark, so shaping shots takes more effort
  • White is the only color on offer

More balls we've scored

  • Maxfli Tour X LS 2026 - 8.8/10. Maxfli's lower-spin Tour X, built for Ben Griffin and sold well under tour-ball money.
  • Wilson Staff Model 2026 - 8.8/10. Wilson's four-piece urethane tour ball matches the longest models tested for distance and spins hard around greens.
  • Titleist Pro V1 2025 - 8.8/10. Titleist's most-played ball gets a faster core and adds spin with irons and wedges.
  • Callaway Chrome Tour 2026 - 8.7/10. A stiffer mantle gives Callaway's 2026 tour ball more speed without hardening the feel.
  • Vice Pro 2024 - 8.7/10. A three-layer urethane ball that matched or beat the Pro V1 in testing for about mid-tier money.
  • TaylorMade TP5 2026 - 8.6/10. A softer five-layer TaylorMade that ranked second for greenside spin among 62 robot-tested balls.
