An Exotics iron finished first in a 15-model players iron test, and the CB earned that spot on consistency. Feel, helped by a polymer insert, scores even higher than its accuracy.

What's new

The Exotics CB arrived in November 2025 as a forged players cavity back, sold as a seven-club set alongside a muscle back sibling. Tour Edge kept the head compact and the lofts traditional, so it looks like an iron for good players at address.

Behind the face sits a VIBRCOR polymer insert, there to quiet vibration and keep the face steady. True Temper Dynamic Gold MID comes standard in 100 or 115 weights. Pricing lands in full players-iron territory, near the top of the set market.

How it plays

Feel scores 9.4, the best mark on its card, and the insert deserves most of the credit: strikes come off soft and solid. Accuracy at 9.2 and forgiveness at 9.1 back up the test result, which named the CB the most consistent iron across every metric and singled out its stability.

Workability also rates 9.1, so a better player can still move the ball both ways. One independent review gave it 4.5 out of five. I came away thinking this is a players iron that tolerates a mid handicapper's bad days better than its size suggests.

Where it lacks

Distance is the low score at 8.2. Traditional lofts cost some yardage against stronger-lofted modern sets, and anyone who judges irons by how far they fly will notice.

The compact head also has limits. It forgives more than a blade, but a player who leans on a maxed game improvement iron will find mishits cost more, and at this price a wrong fit hurts.

“I did not expect a Tour Edge iron to feel this good, or to beat everything else in the test.”

Reasons to buy

  • Finished first of 15 in the 2026 players iron test as its most consistent performer
  • A VIBRCOR polymer insert steadies the face and takes the sting out of impact
  • Shapes shots well enough for a low handicapper yet stays stable for a mid handicapper

Reasons to think twice

  • Costs full players-iron money, close to the top of the set market
  • Traditional lofts give up some distance to stronger-lofted modern sets
  • A compact cavity asks for cleaner strikes than a maxed-out game improvement iron
