Wilson built the DYNAPWR Forged to look like a players iron and hit like something stronger. In a 2026 players distance iron test it beat everything in its class. Few irons cost more.
What's new
This is a forged 8620 carbon steel iron with a cup-style face Wilson calls VFT with PKR-Cup, and an AI-optimized design behind it. A urethane-filled TE-031 cavity sits in the back behind a polished mirror finish.
Wilson sells it as a seven-piece set running 5-iron through gap wedge, in right and left hand, with Recoil Dart HDC steel as stock. A graphite build costs more. The 7-iron carries 30.5 degrees of loft, which is strong, and steel sets went on sale in February 2026 at the top end of the players iron market.
How it plays
In a 2026 iron test it won the players distance class with a 9.4 overall, posting the best ball speed and the best accuracy in the group. Our scores follow that result: 9.5 for distance and 9.2 for accuracy.
Feel scores 9.6, its best number. Forged steel and the filled cavity earn that score, and at 9.0 for workability the compact head still moves the ball both ways. Forgiveness comes in at 8.7, which is good for a head this small, though not in game improvement territory.
Where it lacks
Price hurts most. No players iron set costs more, and choosing graphite raises it again, so value lands at 8.2, the lowest of its six scores.
Wilson aimed it at advancing players, and a high handicapper will find the compact shape a lot of iron to look down at. Do not expect the urethane cavity to add speed either. Wilson put it there for feel, not for speed.
“It hits like a distance iron and feels like a forged blade. I just wish it cost less.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Won its class in a 2026 players distance iron test, with top ball speed and accuracy
- Forged 8620 carbon steel body under a polished mirror finish
- A strong 30.5 degree 7-iron adds distance without a bulky head
Reasons to think twice
- Sits at the top of the players iron market on price, and graphite shafts cost more again
- A compact head asks a lot of high handicappers
- Urethane in the cavity tunes sound and feel but does nothing for ball speed
