A warehouse-club wedge set should not top a field of 15, but this one did. Kirkland's third forged set pairs a test-winning result with a value price, and only lefties are left out.
What's new
GEN 3 arrived at Costco in June 2026 as a boxed set of three: 52, 56 and 60 degree heads forged from mild carbon steel. Bounce runs 10, 10 and 8 degrees, so the lob wedge sits a little lower than the other two.
Kirkland gives the faces a sandblast finish, moves the center of gravity progressively through the set, and fits Lamkin Crossline 360 grips over its own wedge-flex steel shaft. All three clubs come in at a single value-tier price.
How it plays
Against 14 other wedges, this set came out on top with a 9.1 overall and placed second in accuracy, spin and consistency. Our scores track that result: accuracy rates 9.2 and distance 9.0.
Spin holds up too. Backspin hit 9022 rpm, 90.5 percent of shots flew straight, and dispersion measured 2.32 yards across the test. Forgiveness (8.6) and workability (8.7) both rate well, while feel scores 8.3, solid without stealing the show.
Where it lacks
Left-handed golfers can stop reading here, since Kirkland makes these heads for right-handers only. Buying also means going through Costco, because no other retailer carries the set.
Kirkland's own wedge-flex shaft does the job but counts as a basic fit. Anyone who has their irons set up around a specific shaft weight or flex will find the stock steel generic.
“I keep waiting for the catch, and so far it comes down to being right-handed and shopping at Costco.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Finished first of 15 wedges in a 2026 test, ranking second for accuracy, spin and consistency
- A 56 degree shot spun at 9022 rpm in testing, with 90.5 percent of shots flying straight
- Three forged lofts in one box at a value price
Reasons to think twice
- Right-handed heads only, so lefties have nothing to buy
- Sold through Costco and no other retail channel
- A basic wedge-flex steel shaft comes stock, with nothing offered to tune weight or profile
