Vice has a habit of undercutting the big wedge makers, and the VGW02 keeps it going. It is forged, it feels soft, and it spins hard enough to hold its own against wedges that cost far more.
What's new
The VGW02 is the traditional sibling in Vice's wedge line. Where the VGW01 runs a full face, this one keeps a milled face in a classic profile, forged from 1020 carbon steel.
Stock lofts come in 50, 54 and 58 degrees, fitted with a KBS Tour Lite 105 steel shaft and a Vice grip, and lefties get the same options. Vice nudged the list price up after the February 2026 launch, but it remains cheap by forged-wedge standards.
How it plays
Feel carries this wedge. Strikes come off soft and responsive, and only value rates higher than its 8.7 for feel. Workability scores 8.6, which fits a head designed to shape shots rather than rescue mishits.
Tested as a 56-degree sand wedge, it finished sixth in the season's 15-club robot test. It spun at 9305 rpm, launched at 30.8 degrees, carried 85.3 yards and left an average 10.0 feet from the hole, while 86.1 percent of shots finished straight. Those numbers put it in the upper half of a crowded field.
Where it lacks
Forgiveness scores an 8.0, level with distance and below everything else here. A traditional face gives up some help on poor strikes in exchange for control, and high handicappers may get on better with the full-face VGW01.
Loft choice is thin as well. The standard line stops at 50, 54 and 58 degrees, which leaves no stock option for anyone who gaps in two-degree steps or wants a 60.
“It feels like a forged wedge should and spins like one, without asking for forged-wedge money.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- The 1020 carbon steel forging feels soft and responsive
- Spun up 9305 rpm in testing, and 86.1 percent of its shots finished straight
- Value tier pricing for a forged head, with left-hand models available
Reasons to think twice
- Built for workability, so forgiveness trails the more generous wedges in its class
- Only three stock lofts: 50, 54 and 58 degrees
- List price has risen since launch, trimming some of the bargain
