LA Golf forged the FS-26 from one piece of 1020 carbon steel and cut its grooves aggressively. It spins with the SM11 and Opus SP, feels excellent, and asks a price its performance only partly defends.
What's new
The FS-26 arrived in January 2026 as a one-piece forging in 1020 carbon steel, sold in lofts from 50 to 60 degrees. Its grooves are saw cut and aggressive, and every head ships in a matte finish.
Three grinds cover the sole options: S, F and T. LA Golf fits its own L-Series steel shaft as standard, and each wedge sells individually at a price that leans on performance to make its case.
How it plays
Spin stands out first. Against the panel's 15-wedge field, the 56-degree head spun at 9319 rpm and carried 86.6 yards. It averaged 10.3 feet from the target and kept 88.6 percent of its shots on a straight line.
Feel tops its scores at 8.8, with workability close behind at 8.4 and distance at 8.2. Flight comes out low and penetrating, and one 2026 wedge ranking rated it 4.0 out of 5 with a top-five finish for full swings.
Where it lacks
Looks draw the first complaint. Offset is pronounced, and so is the transition into the hosel, which testers flagged as a visual drawback when the club sits behind the ball.
Results stop short of dominant, too. It placed eighth of 15 in a head-to-head test, accuracy lags its other scores at 7.6, and value lands at 7.2 because a good wedge at this price has to be better than good.
“It spins and feels like a top wedge, but you have to like that hosel and pay for it.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Spin keeps pace with the SM11 and Opus SP, helped by aggressive saw-cut grooves
- Feel rates 8.8, higher than anything else it scored, off a one-piece 1020 forging
- Low, penetrating flight and a choice of S, F or T grinds back up an 8.4 for workability
Reasons to think twice
- Pronounced offset and hosel transition look awkward at address to some eyes
- Value bottoms out at 7.2 because the price needs strong results to justify it
- Finished eighth of 15 in a head-to-head test, and accuracy trails at 7.6
