PING built the Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset for golfers who pull putts. It finished second of 29 mallets in a 2026 test, and a sightline this simple is hard to misread.
What's new
This is a compact high-MOI mallet with a white finish and an insert face, released in March 2026. Its Onset hosel sets 1 degree of forward press, and an Eye Q dot on the top rail gives your eye one spot to aim from.
PING ships it with a SuperStroke Pistol 2.0 grip. Pricing lands in the middle of the mallet market, below flagship money but well above a value buy.
How it plays
Forgiveness carries this putter, and its 9.3 score says so. Ball speeds held up across the face in testing, a result few of the 29 mallets could match. Accuracy follows at 8.9, which fits a head designed to stop a pulled stroke.
In a 29-model mallet test it ranked second overall, strongest on short and medium putts. Feel scores 8.5: soft and responsive off the insert, with an audible click that tells you where you struck it. The mallet arrived in the middle of Wyndham Clark's 2026 turnaround, a season that ended with a US Open win.
Where it lacks
Long putts are its weak spot. The same test that ranked it second overall scored it -6.8 from long range against -1.0 from medium, so lag speed control falls behind its short-game performance.
Looks will split opinion. A bright white rectangle reads strange at address until you get used to it, and at mid-tier money, a 7.9 for value means you are paying for the forgiveness and not much else.
“If your misses go left, this is the mallet I would hand you first.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Ball speed holds up on toe and heel strikes, so short misses still reach the hole
- An Eye Q dot on the top rail plus a long sightline make lining up feel almost automatic
- Onset hosel with 1 degree of forward press helps the face return square
Reasons to think twice
- A stark white finish will put off players who like a quiet, dark head
- Its rectangular shape looks odd at address for the first few rounds
- Mid-tier money for a mallet that loses ground on long lag putts
