Sub 70 does not have the retail footprint of the big names, and the 011-SQ barely cares. In a 26-putter zero-torque test it finished second, ahead of every other putter in its price range.

What's new

The 011-SQ is a high-MOI mallet built on Sub 70's Square-to-Square zero-torque design. Its body is CNC-milled from 6063 aluminum, with 303 stainless steel components, and the finished head weighs 367 g.

Specs stay conventional elsewhere: 3 degrees of loft, a 71-degree lie and a 35-inch standard length. Pricing puts it in the value tier, well short of flagship money.

How it plays

On the robot it posted an overall PuttView handicap of -7.7, good for second of 26, and lower numbers win on that scale. Long putts were its best range at -9.7, with short putts close behind at -8.1.

Our scores follow the test. Forgiveness rates 9 and accuracy 8.8, so a straight-back stroke gets a face that stays square without help from the hands, and value lands at 9.4 because nothing near its price did better.

Where it lacks

Medium putts were the soft spot, at -4.9, well off its short and long figures. The head also runs heavier than some aluminum rivals, and at launch Sub 70 offers neither a counterbalance version nor other lengths.

Buying one takes some faith. Sub 70 is a small brand with limited retail presence, so most players will order it without rolling a single putt first.

“Second of 26 in a zero-torque test, from a brand you will rarely see on a shop wall.”

Reasons to buy

  • Placed second of 26 in the 2026 robot zero-torque test, trailing only the class leader
  • Posted the best PuttView handicap among the lower-priced putters in that same test
  • A 367 g CNC-milled head on a 35-inch standard build gives the stroke real stability

Reasons to think twice

  • Sub 70 is a small brand, so finding one in a shop to try is hard
  • Launch offers no counterbalance model and no alternate lengths
  • The milled 6063 head runs heavier than some aluminum rivals, which not every stroke wants
