Tanso builds a forged wedge and sells it direct, so the Tour-W costs far less than the big brands charge. It feels good and comes in three grinds. In a crowded 2026 test, it also finished near the bottom.

What's new

The Tour-W is a 2026 forged wedge from Tanso, a direct-to-consumer brand. Heads go through a three-stage forging process in 1020 carbon steel, and the grooves are CNC milled rather than cast in.

Tanso offers lofts from 48 through 60 degrees, every two degrees, with an F, M or K grind on each, and left-handed versions exist. A True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 comes standard. Each club sells for value-tier money, a fraction of what a tour-brand forged wedge costs.

How it plays

Feel carries this wedge. Strikes come off soft, a forged trait one on-course tester singled out, and the 8.6 feel score is its highest mark after value. Workability sits at 8.2, so opening the face or flighting one down feels natural.

The 56-degree head spun at 9176 rpm in testing, carried 88.0 yards, finished 10.7 feet from the pin on average and found 85.4 percent of shots straight. Of the three soles, the M grind handled the widest range of lies, while the F and K suit firmer or softer turf and different attack angles.

Where it lacks

Those launch-monitor numbers left it 13th of 15 wedges in the 2026 test. Wet conditions hurt it more: spin held at 55.7 percent of the dry figure and launch rose 7.5 degrees, so expect shots from damp grass to fly higher and check less.

Forgiveness, at 7.6, lands a full point below feel, so the Tour-W rewards clean contact more than it rescues a poor one. The loft range also tops out at 60 degrees, which leaves out anyone who carries a 62 or 64.

“It feels like a forged wedge should and costs far less than most. Just keep it dry.”

Reasons to think twice

  • Finished 13th of 15 in a 2026 head-to-head wedge test
