Lazrus builds its putters in Boise, and the LAZ2.5 sells at a budget price. In a 26-model zero-torque test it beat everything from mid range. Shorter and longer putts are a different story.
What's new
Very little, and Lazrus says so. The LAZ2.5 is the 2026 production run of the LAZ2 under a new name, and the oversized white mallet head carries over without a change.
Every head is 100 percent milled in Boise, Idaho, and built around a zero-torque design meant to keep the face from twisting open or shut. Even so, Lazrus sells it at a budget price.
How it plays
Medium-length putts are where this mallet earns its money. A 2026 robot test of 26 zero-torque putters gave it the best mid-range handicap in the field, and its overall PuttView figure came out at -6.3.
Our numbers follow that result. It scores 9.5 for workability and 8.4 for both forgiveness and feel, and it holds its line through the middle of the speed range. Value comes in at 9.4, the second-highest mark on the card.
Where it lacks
The test that crowned it from mid range also found it underperforms on short putts and long lag putts, which is why distance sits at 7.4, its lowest score. If your misses come from close in or from long range, the mid-range win does less for you.
Buying one takes some effort. Lazrus is a small independent shop with limited retail, so most buyers will be ordering without a test roll, and LAZ2 owners get no new head for their trouble.
“From mid range nothing in that test beat it, and it sells at a budget price.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Posted the best mid-range handicap of all 26 putters in a 2026 zero-torque robot test
- A fully milled head, made in Boise, Idaho, sold at a budget price
- Holds its line well on putts struck at middle-of-the-range speeds
Reasons to think twice
- Falls off on short putts and long lag putts in that same test
- Lazrus is a small independent brand, so you will rarely find one in a shop to try
- The 2026 LAZ2.5 is a renamed LAZ2 with an unchanged head, so owners gain nothing by upgrading
