Tommy Armour built a zero-torque mallet for big-box money, and it holds up better than you would guess from lag distance. Up close, the numbers fall apart.
What's new
The Impact No. 4 is a milled steel mallet on a zero-torque hosel, released in April 2026. Its face is milled with no insert, and the head comes in one black finish.
You get two lengths, 34 and 35 inches, and only a right-handed build. Tommy Armour leads with price. It was the cheapest of 26 putters in a 2026 zero-torque test, sitting at the value tier while most rivals ask flagship money.
How it plays
Long putts are its best work. A PuttView score of -8.3 from distance is strong for a zero-torque mallet, and it backs up an 8.4 for distance on our scale.
Owners keep coming back to feel. One said it felt as good as any other zero-torque putter they tried, and another found it played like a premium brand at a fraction of the cost. A 7.2 for feel and a 9.4 for value fit those reports.
Where it lacks
Short putts drag the whole result down. Its -4.4 from close range ranked third worst of 26, the medium-range figure of -2.6 is weak too, and an overall -4.9 left it 23rd. Accuracy scores 6.6, the lowest mark on its card.
Options are thin. Left-handed players are out, and anyone who needs a length outside 34 or 35 inches will have to look elsewhere.
“I would lag with it all day. Over a short one, I would want something else in my hands.”- The Club Stand gear team
