Toulon built the Formula [90] for one job: keeping the face square. It is a toe-up mallet with true zero torque and the highest MOI in its class, and it asks premium money in return.
What's new
The Formula [90] joined Toulon's Formula series in July 2025 as its 90-degree toe-up mallet. Toulon pairs that shape with true zero torque and what it calls ultra-high MOI, aimed at golfers with a straight-back stroke who want as much stability as the category offers.
It comes face-balanced, with a counterbalance option, in 34 or 35 inches. Pricing sits near the top of the zero-torque market at roughly triple the value tier, so nobody buys this one by accident.
How it plays
Stability carries the scorecard. Forgiveness leads at 8.5, feel and workability both land at 8.4, and accuracy follows at 8.3, which fits a head designed to hold the face square through the stroke.
In a 2026 expert panel test of 37 zero-torque putters it scored 69.7 and finished 16th, a respectable mid-pack result. Distance control rates 8.2, its lowest playing score but still a solid one.
Where it lacks
Value scores 6.0, and the price explains why. Paying about three times what a value-tier zero-torque putter costs gets you this stability, yet 15 putters finished ahead of it in that panel test.
The data also has a gap: it sat in a 26-model zero-torque robot test whose guide never published its PuttView result. The toe-up shape is niche, too, and most players will need some time before it feels natural.
“It keeps the face square beautifully, but at this price I want it finishing higher than 16th.”- The Club Stand gear team
Reasons to buy
- Finished 16th of 37 in a 2026 expert panel test of zero-torque putters, scoring 69.7
- True zero torque in a 90-degree toe-up head, built around a straight-back stroke
- Ultra-high MOI keeps the face square through the stroke, and forgiveness rates 8.5
Reasons to think twice
- Costs roughly three times what value-tier zero-torque putters do, and value scores only 6.0
- No robot PuttView figure was published for it in a 26-model zero-torque test
- A niche toe-up shape that needs time before it feels natural
